Woman struck down by car while attempting to cross road

A 65-year-old woman is currently hospitalised after she allegedly walked into the path of a motor car on Monday evening along the La Penitence Public Road, Georgetown.
Police said that at the time of the accident, the car was being driven by a 65-year-old resident of Wortmanville.
According to reports, the motor car was driving along the La Penitence Public Road when the now injured woman attempted to cross the road and walked into the path of the said motor car.
As a result, the left side of the front of the motor car came into contact with the woman, who fell into a nearby drain where she sustained injuries.
She was then picked up in a conscious condition by the driver with the help of EMT technicians, placed into an ambulance and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was seen and examined by a doctor, who treated and admitted her as a patient.
Based on reports received, she is suffering from a broken right knee.
Following the accident, a notice of intended prosecution was served on the driver. He remains in custody assisting with investigations.
