Woman’s body found at Vreed-en-Hoop identified

The partially decomposed body which was discovered along a dam at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara last week was on Thursday identified.

The body is said to be that of 49-year-old Patricia Ronold, a woman of Amerindian descent who had lived at Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara. The identification was made by Ronold’s older sister, with whom she had resided.

Information received is that an unknown caller contacted the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station on Tuesday last and reported discovery of the body. The body was found lying face down, and was clad in a yellow top and a pair of blue long pants. A card with the name “Patricia Ronold” was found lying next to it.

According to Police, no marks of violence have been observed on the body. Ronold’s sister told Police that Ronold had left home to go to Georgetown on June 11, 2017, but never returned home.

A post mortem is expected to be conducted on the body on Friday. Investigations are continuing.
