Women in Business Expo to be held virtually on Friday

The Women in Business Expo 2020 will be held virtually on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Guyana Pegasus Hotel, Kingston, Georgetown. The Women in Business Expo originally started in 2016 and is being organised by the Sonia Noel Foundation for Creative Arts (SNFCA) in collaboration with the Women’s Association for Sustainable Development (WASD).

Annually, this event is hosted in March, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its fifth-year celebrations were postponed. The main objective of hosting this virtual event is to generate business during the holiday season and beyond for women with small businesses.
Last year, the event made phenomenal inroads and some of the exhibitors went to Miami for the Florida International Trade and Cultural Expo.
The virtual edition will be a true celebration of entrepreneurship, positioning the entrepreneurs a step closer to their goals. General Manager of Pegasus Hotel, Carlos Montenegro said “Pegasus Hotel is very happy to support this great initiative. [We] have been supporting from the first year.”
According to Skepmire, who is a first-time exhibitor and founder of the D’Lions Herbal Store, she will be focusing on introducing new products to the public. She said, “One of which will be a face scrub that cannot only shrub your face but also moisturise”.
The expo will showcase many first-time exhibitors and many veteran exhibitors like Bibi Khan, founder of Lisa’s Beauty Shoppe. According to Khan, “I am pleased to be a part of the virtual edition of the Women in Business Expo. It’s always refreshing to be among my expo sisters and to be in such an inspiring and positive atmosphere”.
The expo over the years created a sisterhood among the women. A fashion display will be part of this virtual event.
“I am happy the expo did not remain as just an idea in my head. When I listen to the testimonials from the exhibitors it reminds me of the many lives that were transformed by this event and I give God the glory. SNFCA expresses gratitude to the companies who are supporting the virtual Women in Business Expo. [They are] Pegasus Hotel, Impressions Branding, GTT, HJTV, NCN, Amare Investment, and Destiny’s Events,” said fashion icon Sonia Noel.
