Woodlands Hospital celebrates 50 years of service to Guyanese

One of Guyana’s reputable private medical institutions, the Woodlands Hospital on Sunday celebrated its 50th anniversary.
On Sunday, the celebratory event kick-started at the Marriott Hotel, where doctors participated in the Medical Education Seminar to discuss their field of work, in a bid to assist Guyana’s medical sector.
This was also done to amplify the quality of services being offered by practitioners.
The Hospital, in a release, stated, “Throughout our history, Woodlands Hospital’s mission has been the provision of excellent patient care in response to the behavioural health-care needs of the community we serve. In keeping with our strategic goal to advance medical care in Guyana, we will be hosting our largest Continuing Medical Education Seminar or CME.”
Guyana Times understands that more than 500 doctors from across Guyana were expected to benefit from the anniversary CME.
“[CME] is a critical feature in the development of medical professionals nationwide as it assists them in maintaining competence and acquiring knowledge about new and developing areas of their field,” the release said.
The areas targeted included bronchial asthma, benign prostatic hypertrophy and the application of thoracic surgery for general practitioners.
Over the years, the Hospital has established a fully functioning accident and emergency unit, with other departments for gynaecology, paediatrics and radiology among others.
