World Archery Americas, Archery Guyana commence coaching clinic
World Archery Americas’ renowned Coach Phillip Graves has recently arrived in Guyana. He has begun conducting an 8-day, Level 1 Archery Coaching Course, which commenced on Sunday at the National Racquet Center.
Graves, who boasts a long resume, is a Certified USA Archery Level 4 Coach, National Training System and Coach Trainer, USA Archery National Judge, USA Archery International Team Staff, and Team Manager.
He has coached the US team that won more than 120 international medals over the past two years. He sits on the USA Archery Nominating and Governance Committee, and the World Archery Americas Development Committee, and is currently involved in development of a Coach Assessment and Certification procedure for the Americas.
Participants in his Level 1 Archery Coaching course include members from Archery Guyana and other sports personnel from Regions 1, 3, 8 and 9, who are here in Georgetown for the event after another successful collaboration with the National Sports Commission.
The course aims to strengthen the level of knowledge of the sport while equipping participants with an invaluable amount of knowledge regarding archery. As a result of this current project, the fraternity has benefited directly from Graves’s coming to Guyana.
As a member of the World Archery Americas Council, American Sports Education Program Certified Coach USOC/USA Archery SafeSport Certified, Owner of Geneva Archery Club and Archery Range, Head Coach of Geneva Archery Junior Olympic Archery Development Club, the seasoned archer will impart a huge amount of knowledge to participants of the course over the next few days.
Meanwhile, the executives of Archery Guyana wish to acknowledge support for this event coming from the Honourable Minister of Social Cohesion/Sport, Dr. George Norton; Ministry of Social Cohesion; Director of Sport, Mr. Christopher Jones; the National Sports Commission; Mr. Shameer Mohamed; the Management of Ocean Spray Hotel; the Management of Carib Foods; Demerara Distillers Limited; Mr. Ramesh Ghir; Infotrans Guyana Inc., and the Guyana Tourism Authority.
The clinic will commence from 8:00h daily and will end next weekend.
