World Athletics Championship 2022: Archibald books spot in Men’s 100M heats
Guyana’s Olympian Emanuel Archibald has competed in the Men’s 100M preliminary round of the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Running in heat four in lane 2, the Guyanese registered a time of 10.31 to book his spot in the heats of the Men’s 100m event.

Running in Heat 4, Archibald’s time of 10.31 was just the right speed, as he dominated his heat with an advantage of 0.17 over Dorian Keletela of the Athlete Refugee Team, who clocked a time of 10.48.
At the end of the four heats, Archibald was the quickest among the 25 qualifying athletes. His time of 10.31 was followed by The Gambia’s Ebrahim Camara’s 10.37 and Indonesian Lalu Muhammad Zohri’s 10.46.
Archibald is a South American Championships silver and bronze medalist, 6 times National Champion, and an athlete who has found himself three times in the top eight at the South American Championships. He is also the country’s record holder for the long jump, and he also represented Guyana at the Tokyo Olympics, where he made it out of the preliminary stages in the 100M.
