Wortmanville man remanded for stabbing ‘child mother’
D’Urban Street stabbing
Clevland Williams who allegedly stabbed the mother of his child in D’Urban Street, Wortmanville on Tuesday, April 17, was on Friday remanded to prison by Senior Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The 46-year-old maintenance worker of Lot 70 D’Urban Street Lodge faces an attempted murder charge alleging that he stabbed
Lashawna Boyce twice in her lower back with intent to cause her grievous bodily
harm.
The incident allegedly occurred when he confronted Boyce while she was walking along D’Urban Street. Having arming himself with a knife, he began pushing Boyce about her body, and a scuffle ensued between the two, during which he allegedly wounded Boyce and left her in a nearby drain as he made good his escape.
Public-spirited persons rushed Boyce to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where she was admitted a patient.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to Williams being placed on bail, citing the serious nature of the offence and the prevalence of domestic violence. Moore explained that Boyce is still a patient at the GPHC, where her condition is listed as stable.
Magistrate Latchman accordingly remanded Williams to prison, and adjourned the matter to May 4.
