Well Teen, Trophy Stall, Tropical Springs & Nauth Motor Spares Day/Night U-13 Tournament
The day/night under 13 tournament got off to a fantastic start last Friday evening with Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) registering a hard fought four-wicket victory over Transport Sports Club (TSC).
Transport Sports Club won toss and choose to bat but only got to 65 off of their allotted 20 overs with Riyad Latiff and Jonathan Barton scoring seven a-piece while extras contributed a healthy 35. Bowling for GYO, Danesh Persaud took 4 for 20 and Dilshan Roopnarine took 2 for 10.
GYO laboured to 66-6 in the 18th over with Mavindra Dindyal top scoring with 33. Bowling for TSC, Alvin Mohabir took 2 for 15.
Meanwhile, on Saturday evening Blairmont beat home team Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) by 11 runs in a high scoring thriller.
Blairmont Cricket Club’s Young Blazers took first knock and chalked up 157-3 from their 25 overs. Zinul Ramsammy (52 not out) and Jaden Trotz (31 not out) who joined forces at 55-3 put on a magnificent unbroken 102-run partnership for the fourth wicket on the fast outfield. Shakir Saffie had earlier made 20. Ten-year old, Romeo Deonarain was the pick of the DCC bowlers with three for 18 from his five overs of which two were maidens.
In reply, DCC were limited to 146-7 with Inderjeet Nanan hitting an even half century while A. Sookra took 3-21. Trotz and Ramsammy were also among the wickets with 2-7 and 1-15 respectively.
Zinul Ramsammy was named Man of the Match.
The lone match scheduled for Sunday between Everest Cricket Club and the Georgetown Cricket Club was not played after Everest requested to reschedule the fixture.
The competition will continue this weekend with three more matches; on Friday April 28 DCC take on Malteenoes Sports Club at 16:00, on Saturday April 29 Rose Hall Sports Club meet GYO at 16:30h then on Sunday April 30 GCC take on Everest from 17:00h.
