Home News Young Guyanese entrepreneurs create shopping app
What started out as a small business that an entrepreneur destined for greatness, Matrix Shopping is now one of the greatest online shopping entities coming out of Guyana.
Starting with online shopping and the drive to make life simple, 41-year-old Larry Morgan who hails from New Amsterdam, Berbice, has turned his dream into a reality.
“Life’s been hard for persons in my jurisdiction when it comes to online shopping, to place your order you’d have to come to the city. To receive the package, it’s the same process and even though it’s a simple process, it’s one that’s both costly and timely. I thought to myself how can I make this even more simple, that’s when Matrix was created,” Morgan expressed.
In fact, he launched his business on social media platforms and websites.
“With the vision of ‘Making Life Simple’ in mind, not only did I offer online shopping but also free delivery. And if that wasn’t enough, I also went to the customers to uplift their down payment, again at NO cost.”
Two years later, Matrix has grown into a household name in Berbice and social media platforms. Given the reviews it has received, it’s no surprise persons from across Guyana are now tapping into the service.
As such, Morgan was prompted to expand his service not only to his hometown but to persons from Parika, Timehri & Linden. His intention is to tap into the market in Bartica, Lethem, Essequibo, Mabaruma and Port Kaituma.
As the business continues to expand, Morgan has launched his second location in the city and would have teamed up with other young entrepreneurs and coders to establish the Matrix Shopping App.
With already over 12,500 downloads and a 4.7 rating in the Playstore, the Matrix Shopping App is off to a flying start. Featuring its profound online shopping and delivery service, the app boasts several fantastic features.
Complementing its online shopping, the app features “Instant Quotation”, saving customers time as opposed to waiting on a response from a representative.
In support of local businesses, the app also includes a “Local Buy and Sell” where businesses can promote their products and have them sold and delivered to their customer’s doorstep.
It also features “storefronts” for businesses – a service that allows persons to shop from local businesses virtually with over 10,000 items to choose from.
Like every other platform, it boosts the local entertainment sector. Just like YouTube and Facebook, persons can upload content and also add and chat with persons.
With great respect for content creators, the Matrix team is willing to pay persons uploading onto the platform. With a passion for creativity, Morgan alongside local producer Brandon Jones, is currently working on the film “The Ringleader”.
With Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, and New Year around the corner, the Matrix team set their focus on ensuring they provide the best service they can for their customers.
The public is asked to download the Matrix Shopping App and shop from the comfort of their homes.
