The scholarship was made possible through support from the Berbice Cricket Board/Zulfikar Mustapha Agriculture Educational Scholarship Programme (BCB/ZM ESP).
Khan, who is a member of the Berbice Cricket Club, received a cheque from Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha to cover his third-year tuition fees.
During their interaction, Minister Mustapha congratulated Khan on maintaining his grades and told the youth to continue with his pursuit of higher education. He also encouraged him to find a balance between academic and extracurricular activities so that he would not have to choose between his education and his love for the sport of cricket.
The scholarship was first awarded to the youth through the BCB back in 2020, after which the Agriculture Ministry came on board to offer support for Khan’s second year of UG. In keeping with the terms of the scholarship, Khan has, so far, maintained a Grade Point Average (GPA) of above 3.
Minister Mustapha emphasised the importance of supporting youths who are passionate about agriculture so as to build a dynamic and diverse sector
