Scores of young footballers braved inclement weather on Monday as the inaugural edition of the Vurlon Mills Football Academy (VMFA) Exchange Cup 2026 took centre stage.
Shifted to the Guyana Football Federation’s National Training Centre (NTC) at Providence, East Coast Demerara (ECD); the artificial turf set for a packed day of exhilarating action and a vibrant display of skills.
Nine clubs from Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, St Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago are vying for top honours in the competition which is slated to conclude today, Wednesday, April 1.

Hosts VMFA began the day’s proceedings with a decisive 7-0 pummelling of Godfrey Blair Sports Academy (SA) in the U-12 division on Monday morning.
VMFA then went on to pull off a flawless 5-0 win over Buston Stars Football Club in the U-14 division. Peppa Youth Development out of St Lucia then drubbed Fruta Conquerors Football Club (FC) 5-0 in the same age group.
In the U-16 division, Point Fortuin out of Trinidad and Tobago cruised past Pele FC 6-0. Later in the day, they also pulled off a 7-3 victory over Godfrey Blair SA in the same age group. More U-16 action saw Fruta Conquerors holding off Buxton Stars to secure a 4-2 victory.
Also in that age group, Plaisance FC and Peppa Youth Academy played to an entertaining 1-1 draw.
The VMFA also found favour in this category, defeating Godfrey Blair SA 4-1 in their Group C clash.
However, Buxton Stars had their revenge in the U-12 division, edging Fruta Conquerors 2-1 when they met on the pitch.
