Campbellville couple nabbed with cocaine in home

A Craig Street, Campbellville, Georgetown couple are now in the custody of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) following the discovery of over one kilogram of cocaine in their home.

the property on Tuesday where they conducted a search during which the cocaine was discovered.
Upon the discovery, the owners – Andre Gomes, called “Zipper” and his wife – were arrested. They are expected to be charged shortly.
Guyana Times understands that a quantity of cash, jewellery and other valuables were seized by the CANU ranks.
Reports are the couple have been under surveillance by drug enforcement officers for quite some time now. Two weeks ago, CANU conducted a raid at several houses at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara, resulting in the arrest of two siblings and discovery of over two kilograms of cocaine concealed in the ceiling of one of the houses.
In addition, several vehicles and an undisclosed sum of cash were seized. One of the siblings was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. She pleaded guilty to the charge, and was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and fined $17 million.
