Zouks beat rain and Tridents to get 1st win

The St Lucia Zouks’ mix of smarts and firepower saw them home in a breathless chase, after a heavy shower of rain had cut short a Barbados Tridents innings that started brilliantly but was derailed by the Zouks’ battery of off-spinners.

A late burst of four wickets for 11 runs in just 18 balls proved crucial in keeping the revised target in range, as the power of Rahkeem Cornwall and the overall excellence of Mohammad Nabi meant that even Rashid Khan couldn’t deny the Zouks their first win of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 season.
Contributions of 35 from Johnson Charles, 19 from Shai Hope, 27 from Jason Holder, and 16 each from Kyle Mayers and Ashley Nurse helped the Tridents to 131-7 before rain halted play at The Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
The Ground staff were efficient in getting the field ready for the resumption of play, and St. Lucia were tasked with getting 47 runs from 5 overs.

Led by Andre Fletcher and Rahkeem Cornwall, the Zouks racked up the total in 4.1 overs to get the Zouks their first two points.
