The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) will hold two days of trials to select its under-17 team to participate in the upcoming Centrobasket U-17 Championships which is scheduled for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, July 26-30.
The trials will take place at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, on June 10-11.
The Federation shortlisted 21 players but is also open to allow other players who have not been named to participate in the trial.
The process allows for individuals not identified on this shortlist to join the trials on the recommendation of any affiliated coach/representative of Affiliates of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation.
On both days, the trial will occur from 08:00h to 10:00h in the morning and 14:00h to 16:00h in the afternoon session.
The following is a list of the players shortlisted: Yannick Tappin – Linden, Leon Benjamin – Linden, Shamar France – Berbice, Kelmar Carmichael – Berbice, Garfield Benjamin – Berbice, Andrew Johnson – Georgetow, Nigel Bowen – Georgetown, Roydon Glasgow – Georgetown, Akeem Crandon – Berbice, Jermaine King – Berbice, Kareem Boyle – Berbice, Jordan Alphonso – Berbice USA Based, Kevon Wiggins – Berbice – USA Based, Jahleel Young – Georgetown, Zion Gray – Georgetown, Jeremy Campbell – Berbice, Denzil Ross –Georgetown, Kadeem Dover – Kwakwani, Isaiah Hintzen – Kwakwani, Jether Harris – Georgetown and Anthony Yansin – Georgetown.
Coaches are: Head Coach Lugard Mohan, with Kenny Avent (US-based) and Willon Cameron as Assistant Coaches. Junior Andrew Hercules is the manager and leader of the Guyana delegation.
Training sessions will continue with the reduced squad at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall – as follows: June 17 – 18, June 24 – 25, July 1 – 10 and July 14 – 24 (Encampment).
The Guyana U-17 team will depart for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on Tuesday, July 25 and return to Guyana on Monday, July 31.
The GABF has already made the necessary deposits to secure travel dates for the Guyana U-17 team, with Copa Airlines.
