GHB Under-18/2nd Division Outdoor Hockey League…

In perfect conditions for outdoor hockey on Sunday, GCC whipped Saints in the Under-18 Girls category as one of the premier matches in the Guyana Hockey Board’s (GHB) Under-18/second Division Outdoor League which was played at the St. Stanislaus College Ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Rising to the occasion was regular leaders of the GCC Under-18 unit, Abosaide Cadogan and Alana Cheung who both contributed two goals each in the stunning victory. Cadogan scored in just the 6th minute of play while Sarah Klautky followed her team mate to score the second goal for GCC three minutes later, ending the first half with GCC leading 2-0.
Cadogan and Cheung returned to the field after the interval with the same vigor that earned her team their third and fourth goals in the 24th and 37th minute. Makada Harding also scored in the 37th minute, ending the match 6-0.

The GCC Boys U-18 team shared the same success as their female counterparts, destroying the other school team in the competition, St. Joseph High (SJH) by the same margin. This time, it was Kareem McKenzie continues to have a fantastic run in his last four matches. McKenzie, who is also the captain of the unit, scored five goals with the first coming in the first minute of play. He would then score in the 7th and 10th minute as Rahim Oliver worked past the SJH defense to score in the 28th minute. McKenzie capped off a good run with two more goals coming in the 29th and 35th minutes.
The SJH girls fended a bit better than their school mates and managed a draw against a strong Hikers team. Jeanelle Fredericks scored in the 7th minute to immediately put Hikers on the back foot but only for a short while with Annalisa Singh securing the equalizer in the last minute of the first half. Both teams were unable to register another goal in the second half.
Saints boys did well in their match against Old Fort, winning 4-1. Edmond Chinan had a superb run with a hat trick of goals for his school while Nicholas Nervais contributing the other goal. Sharan James was the only scorer for Old Fort.
Over in the 2nd division category, Saints also enjoyed success, defeating Hikers by a 4-1 margin and Old Fort suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of GCC B team.
