Man, teen charged for robbery

Two men from Region One (Barima-Waini) appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Wednesday to answer to charges of breaking and entering.
Forty-six-year-old Deon Allicock and 19-year-old Leroy Singh, both of Kamaka Water Front, North West District, Essequibo, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on June 15, 2017 at Kamaka Water Front, they broke and entered James Campbell’s property and stole three gold rings valued 0,000; two gold chains valued 0,000; one gold band valued ,000; 10 cartons of Bristol cigarettes valued ,000; 90 0 Digicel phone cards valued ,000; and .6 million in cash.
Their attorney made a successful bail application on behalf of both accused, arguing that Allicock and Singh were both well-known in their community and posed no flight risk.
The prosecution did not object to bail, which was granted in the sum of 0,000. Both men are expected to reappear at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court on August 22, 2017.
