1 arrested after CANU swoops down on ganja field at St Cuthbert’s Mission

A 23-year-old man of St Cuthbert’s Mission, Linden-Soesdyke Highway, was on Friday arrested after he was found on a ganja farm during an operation by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU)

Based on reports received, CANU officers acting on intelligence received, conducted an operation at St Cuthbert’s Mission during which they discovered a camp located on 2.5-acres of land with a total of 3000 cannabis plants ranging from three feet to six feet in height.
In addition, a quantity of processed cannabis and seeds were unearthed. At the time of the exercise, the 23-year-old man was found under a make-shift tent processing cannabis plants at one of the fields.
As such, he was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters with the processed cannabis and seeds. He is reportedly assisting with the investigations.
CANU continues to conduct its operations around the country aimed at dismantling the networks that are engaged in the sale as well as distribution of narcotics.
