1 arrested after vehicle intercepted at checkpoint with ganja
One man was taken into custody after he admitted ownership of a quantity of cannabis which was found in a vehicle at the Itaballi checkpoint, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) on Thursday.

Based on reports received, the 34-year-old man was in the company of several others as they were making their way to Pappy Show Landing.
At the checkpoint, the vehicle in which they were travelling was intercepted by Police, who conducted a search of the tray of the truck. Ranks subsequently unearthed a quantity of ganja in a transparent plastic stashed in a navy-blue jacket.
The occupants of the motor vehicle were arrested and taken to Bartica Police Station, where the suspect who was part of the group of men arrested admitted ownership of the illegal drug.
The cannabis was reportedly weighed in his presence and amounted to 517 grams. The detained man is expected to be charged shortly.
