1 in custody over WCD shooting

Police have arrested a man in relation to an alleged shooting incident that occurred at 6th Street Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
Reports are that the incident occurred at about 21:30h on Saturday.
According to Police, on Sunday a man who resides in the area reported that he and five co-workers were imbibing at the Windsor Forest Public Road, WCD, when he got into a misunderstanding with another man.
At the time, the suspect was armed with a cutlass and dealt the victim a lash across his chest. The victim claimed that as he was about to retaliate, another male who was with the suspect whipped out a black handgun from his left side waist and pointed it in his direction.
Fearful for his life, the man said he ran for cover behind a canter truck and the two men left the area. He then called for his relatives, who went to assist him but while there, the two perpetrators returned and opened fire in their direction. This caused them to run into a nearby yard.
Police, acting on information received, made contact with one of the suspects, who was arrested and placed into custody at the Den Amstel Police Station, assisting cops in their probe.
