1 stabbed to death, 1 critical during drinking spree

A drinking spree at Balamani Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni Mazaruni), turned tragic in the wee hours of Tuesday, leaving one man dead and another in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
The dead man is yet to be identified but the injured man has been identified as Vivian Lucruz, a miner of St Ignatius, Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo). The suspect is said to be a Brazilian national of Boa Vista and Balamani Backdam.
Based on reports received, the now dead man, Lucruz, and the suspect were imbibing at a shop at Balamani Landing when an argument broke out among them.
The suspect reportedly got angry and whipped out a knife, attacked and stabbed the now dead man and Lucruz several times about their bodies before escaping.
The injured men were picked up and taken to the Bartica Hospital where the unidentified man was pronounced dead on arrival while Lucruz was admitted, treated and transferred to the GPHC.
Lucruz reportedly sustained injuries to his neck and hand. The incident has been reported and efforts are currently being made to arrest the suspect.
Earlier in the year, 34-year-old Clinton Henry of Yambay, Eclipse Falls Top, North West District (NWD), was stabbed to death by his brother during a drinking spree at their home.
It was reported that the now dead man and his brother were imbibing in front of their parent’s home and soon after he was found in a pool of blood by his wife who went to check on them. Henry was reportedly stabbed to his head.
He was picked up and taken to Port Kaituma Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect is still on the run.
