14th Annual Seven Seas 11-race Cycling set for this weekend
The 14th annual Seven Seas 11-race cycling programme is slated to be contested at the inner circuit of the National Park on Saturday August 5th from 09:00hrs.
The programme targets a wide range of racers starting from the BMX, Junior level, Seniors and all the way up to the veterans.
However, the main event of the day will see the top cyclists in the country match pedals over a grueling 35 lap race for trophies and cash prizes.
Cycling action will continue as National cycling will return to the West Demerara roadways on Sunday August 6th when national cycling coach Hassan Mohamed stages the 13th annual Regan Rodrigues Memorial 50-mile race. This event pedals off from Wales Police Station at 08:00hrs and proceeds to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo before finishing at the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
The first six finishers will receive prizes, while the top three in the juniors, veterans, mountain bike and female categories will be rewarded. There will be a prize for the top Over-60 veteran rider while eight prime prizes will be up for grabs during the course of the race.
Among the top contenders for both events will be Team Evolution’s Paul DeNobrega, Raul Leal and Team Coco’s Jamaul John; all of whom will be looking to add valuable national classification points.
