15 events to heat up CASH

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) is set to kick start their 2018 calendar of activities with the commencement of the National Sports Commission (NSC sponsored Mashramani Cadet and Junior Table Tennis championships, scheduled for February 16-19 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH). The tournament comes on board after a two-year hiatus and based on discussions with the NSC’s Director of Sports Christopher Jones, the two entities agreed and saw the need for the reintroduction of the championships.

The junior cadet action will be the first focus of the Guyana Table Tennis Association for 2018

Jones committed his organization’s support to providing funding to the key event which formed part of the GTTA’s domestic calendar of events for many years and for which many of Guyana top racquet wielders stake their claim for domestic supremacy.
The championships will see 15 categories being contested in the flowing divisions: Boys’ 18 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls 18 Yrs. and Under Singles; Boys’ 15 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls’ 15 Yrs. and Under Singles; Boys’ 13 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls’ 13 Yrs. and Under Singles; Boys’ 11 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls’ 11 Yrs. and Under Singles; Boys’ 9 Yrs. and Under Singles; Girls’ 9 Yrs. and Under Singles; Novices Girls Singles; Novices Boys Singles; Girls Doubles Juniors; Boy Doubles Juniors and Mixed Doubles Juniors.
Winners runners-up and semi-finalists will be awarded with trophies of gold, silver and bronze. Players interested in participating in the championships are ask to contact national Coach and GTTA general Secretary Linden Johnson or GTTA Hon Treasurer Mrs Deirdre.
