15th Ricks and Sari Reagan Rodrigues Memorial Cycle Race on August 4

Cyclists will again return to action, this time to participate in the 15th staging of the annual Ricks and Sari Reagan Rodrigues Memorial Cycle Race, set to commence on August 4 at 08:30 hrs.

The race commences at Schoonard, on the West Bank of Demerara, before heading to Bushy Park, on the East Bank of the Essequibo, then returning to the point of origin to complete a total of 46 miles.
In the 14th edition of this race, the seniors’ category was won by Team Coco’s Jamaul John, who retained his road race title by clocking one hour, 41 minutes and 38 seconds. Coming in second was Linden Bauxite Flyers’ Michael Anthony, while Evolution’s Paul DeNobrega finished in third place.
In the juniors’ category, Adealie Hodge won with ease, while Ray Wilson was the runner-up. In the veterans’ category, Team Alanis rider Paul Choo-Wee-Nam dethroned Ian Jackson, who settled for second, while Leer Nunes came in third.
In the final event of the day, the mountain bike category, Julio Melville bested Ozia McCaulay after a heated battle for the title.
Prizes are up for grabs in this race, inclusive of 8 prime prizes.
Businessman Reagan Rodrigues was born on February 21, 1948 and passed away on August 4, 2004. During his lifetime, he served as President of the Carlton Wheelers Cycling Club and was also a champion race car driver.
