16-year-old murder suspect for court today

Charges are expected to be laid today against the lad accused of murdering his stepfather Eustane Williams, 70, at his Crane New Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, home on Thursday last.
The teenager, who is said to be a drug addict, was captured shortly after he fled the murder scene and has remained in police custody assisting with investigations.
The young man’s mother is said to be living abroad, however it is uncertain if she will return to provide support.
Reports indicate that the teenager and his stepfather shared a strained relationship and were often at loggerheads owing to the lad’s alleged addiction to illegal drugs.
Some residents say that the teenager was put out of the house since last year by his stepfather as a result of constant arguments between them.
According to reports, the teenager is a high school dropout and would often spend time loitering around the community.
Other reports indicate that the teenager was often ill-treated by his stepfather.
On the day of the incident, the young man reportedly grabbed a cutlass and dealt his stepfather several chops to the head, shoulders and back.
