This publication previously reported that ranks of the Guyana Police Force had captured a man who was wanted in connection with several armed robberies at Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, in late February. The 24-year-old male was reportedly hiding out at a house in David Rose Street, Bagotville, when Police acting on information arrested him.
However, the suspect did not go with law enforcement officers peacefully and allegedly assaulted ranks as he was being escorted to the waiting Police vehicle. According to media reports, Singh was shot to the right knee when he attempted to disarm a rank of his service weapon and the said rank “discharged a round” during the process. An investigation was launched into the shooting incident and the suspect was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he remained under Police guard while nursing a single gunshot wound to his right leg.
