2 injured after motorcycle collides with car

A motorcyclist and his pillion rider were on Saturday evening injured after the motorcycle which they were riding collided with a car that was in the process of overtaking another vehicle along the Lewis Manor Public Road, East Coast Berbice.

The injured men are 28-year-old Fazil Hussain of Cumberland Village, East Canje, and 21-year-old Shakeer Batson of Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice.
Based on reports received, at about 21:30h on the day in question, the two men were driving their motorcycle along the public road when they collided with the motor car bearing registration number PVV 281 driven by a 27-year-old man.
As a result of the collision, Hussain and his pillion rider reportedly sustained injuries about their bodies. They were taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where they were treated. Batson was, however, treated and sent away while Hussain was admitted to the medical facility.
Meanwhile, the driver of the motor car was reportedly above the legal limit of alcohol consumption following a breathalyser test.
He was arrested and is assisting with investigations.
