Berbice taxi driver robbed of motor car

A 41-year-old taxi driver was over the weekend robbed of his motor car at Mount Sinai Village, West Canje, Berbice, Region Six (Berbice-Corentyne).
Based on reports received, at about 21:00h on Saturday evening, the victim parked his motor car on the parapet along the Mount Sinai Village Public Road and when he went to get the vehicle at about 06:30h on Sunday morning, it was nowhere to be found.
The motor car is a White Toyota Carina 212 with registration plates HB 8987 and estimated at $1.4 million. A Police report was made and an investigation has been launched.
Only on Wednesday, the Police had seized several motor cars in Berbice which are suspected to have been stolen including a white Fielder Wagon bearing registration number PVV 6272 and a silver-grey Premio bearing registration number PRR 3989.
They were reportedly found in a yard in New Market Street, Rose Hall.
In addition, a silver-grey Premio (registration number PTT 9316) and a Fielder Wagon (registration number PTT 7651) were discovered at another location in Rose Hall.
It was also reported that Police conducted a search at the home of a female nurse of Rose Hall, Corentyne, where they found several “car-related documents”.
During the search, Police said, a named suspect was detained. He is presently in hospital under guard. For the year, there have been several reports of stolen cars.
