2 injured in 2-vehicle smash-up at Pouderoyen

Two West Bank Demerara residents are now injured following a two-vehicle collision on the Pouderoyen Public Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on Saturday.
Police said the accident involved motorcar PPP 3788 driven by a 27-year-old man of West Minster La Parafaite Harmonie WBD and motorcar PYY 6390 driven by a 61-year-old man of South Better Hope East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Reports are motorcar PPP 3788 was proceeding along the Pouderoyen Public Road when the other motorcar which was travelling in the opposite direction made a U-turn and ended up in the path of PPP 3788.
At the time, passengers Alecia Munroe, 35, of Middle Street Pouderoyen and Naresh Persaud,57, of Recht Door Zee WBD were sitting at the rear seat of motor PPP 3788.
They both sustained injuries about their bodies, and were taken to West Demerara Regional Hospital where Munroe was admitted for observation in a stable condition and Persaud was treated and sent away.
Both drivers were tested for positive for alcohol consumption. They were arrested as investigations continue.
