Two other suspects allegedly involved in the Emancipation Day execution of former murder accused, Orin Malik David, were on Wednesday arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and remanded to prison. It is alleged that Howard Rambarose, 25; and Jermaine Jeffers, 24, on August 1, 2016, at Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, unlawfully murdered Orin Malik David. The duo was remanded to prison until March 7 when the case will be called again.
The prosecution is contending that the duo along with two persons charged with the murder of David – Negus Lamaizon and Samuel McIntyre – are currently undergoing a preliminary inquiry before Magistrate Dylon Bess.
The alleged trigger man, Samuel McIntyre, was arrested and charged shortly after the murder, while three of his accomplices fled to Suriname.
After almost four months on the run, Howard Rambarose, commonly known as “Spleen”, was arrested subsequent to which he was charged with the capital offence and remanded to prison. He was nabbed by Police Officers who had received reports to the effect that he had returned to the jurisdiction.Jeffers was arrested on a later date and arraigned.
According to reports, David was shot on the afternoon of August 1, 2016, following a dispute stemming from the payment of monies.
On the day in question, the deceased had a heated argument with one of the suspects whom he had bailed out of jail sometime in 2015. The man then reportedly left and returned with three others and riddling the victim with bullets as he approached the vehicle of the said suspects. The injured man was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.David, who is known to the Police, was freed in February 2015, after spending five years in prison for the 2010 murder of Mahaica farmer Lakhram Bishundial. Bishundial was shot and killed during a robbery at Hope Turn, East Coast Demerara.In addition, the deceased on July 12, 2015, was charged with unlawful possession of firearm after he had allegedly tossed a gun in a nearby trench during a Police patrol exercise on July 2015.
