2 nabbed with illegal gun, over 7kg ganja at Clonbrook
Two men are now in Police custody after they were found with an illegal gun along with a quantity of marijuana on Saturday at Clonbrook, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The men, aged 33 and 35, were arrested following a cordon-and-search exercise
During the exercise, ranks of the Narcotics Department and Regional Division 4C, led by an Assistant Superintendent, discovered a 9mm pistol and six live rounds of matching ammunition. In addition, a total of 7.150 kilograms of cannabis was also unearthed.
The men were reportedly interrogated during which time they were told of the offence, arrested, and charged. They are expected to make their court appearance today.
Only on Thursday, another three men were arrested after they were found with a quantity of ganja.
It was reported that on the day in question, Police Officers conducted a cordon-and-search exercise at “Spliff” Street, Church of God Road, Buxton, ECD.
During the operation, a 34-year-old male of Middlewalk, Buxton, was searched, and Police discovered 66 transparent ziplock bags containing the illegal plant.
In addition, on the same say, Police conducted a search on a 27-year-old man of Buxton and found 11 transparent ziplock bags containing ganga.
Another search, which was conducted on a 35-year-old man, also of Buxton, ECD, unearthed a transparent ziplock bags with a quantity of cannabis. Further searches by police revealed a ziplock bag in a bush on the southern side of “Spliff” Street, containing 262 grams of cannabis.
The men were told of the offence committed and arrested.
