A man and a woman were on Saturday taken into Police custody after more than 18kg of ganja was found in a motor car along the Zeelugt Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).

Based on reports received, members of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, Eve Leary, during a sting operation, intercepted the two motor cars and conducted a search on them.
During the search, 39 parcels on cannabis were found in one of the vehicles. The illegal substance was subsequently weighed and amounted to 18,431 grams. As such, the two persons were arrested and are assisting with investigations.
