2 Police Officers promoted for acts of bravery

Two Police Officers who demonstrated pure bravery while executing their duties have been promoted by Police Commissioner Leslie James on Friday.
Corporal Clive Clarke, who has served the Guyana Police Force (GPF) for over 10 years and is presently stationed at the Brickdam Police Station, was elevated to the rank of Sergeant. Clarke said that with being promoted, his performance would only become even greater.

He was injured in the leg during the shootout with three bandits in Norton Street, Georgetown last week.
Meanwhile, Constable Mark Grimmond, who is stationed at Eteringbang, Cuyuni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), was promoted to Corporal.
He was escorting the body of a United States missionary when the single-engine aircraft in which he was travelling crash-landed aback of Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara.

The emotional cop, who has served eight years in the Force, said that he was very much elated for his first promotion.
Both ranks have been discharged from the hospital and have been recovering speedily.
The simple promotion ceremony was hosted in the Commissioner’s Conference Room in the presence of Officers of the Force’s Performance Group who were meeting at the time.
The Commissioner was sure to note that such outstanding performance by ranks would always be rewarded by the Force.
