Home News 2-year-old still missing after boat capsized
As the investigation continues into the disappearance of two-year-old Nandra Albana, who fell into the Kukui River, Upper Mazaruni, a team of police ranks revisited the scene on Friday but came up empty-handed.
Despite hours of searching, the detectives were still unable to locate the child’s body.
The child, of Phillipai Village, Upper Mazaruni River, went missing on Tuesday last at about 16:30h after a canoe capsized. At the time of the incident, the child’s parents and five others were travelling in the canoe when it allegedly came into contact with an object, thus causing it to topple.
It was reported that after everyone reached the shore, they realised that the child was missing.
Efforts were made by the toddler’s father and other relatives to find her, but they were futile.
It has now been four days since the child went underwater and didn’t resurface.
Regional Commander Linden Lord told Guyana Times on Friday that since the toddler fell into the river, searches are been done daily to retrieve her body.
Investigations continue.
