Region 9 farmers get hands-on training in livestock, crop production 

Farmers and Community Service Officers (CSOs) in Yurong Paru and Rukumuta in the South Pakaraimas Sub-District, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo), have received training in livestock medication administration, shadehouse management and fertiliser application.

The sessions were held on Tuesday through a collaborative effort between technical staff from the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) and the Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA).
GLDA facilitated training on animal medication administration, providing participants with knowledge and practical skills for the safe and proper administration of medication to livestock.
NAREI, meanwhile, conducted sessions on shadehouse management and fertiliser application, focusing on practices to support crop production and the effective management of shadehouse facilities.
Both sessions included theoretical and practical components, allowing participants to apply the information provided during the training.
The facilitators were GLDA Veterinarian Dr Andray Pearson and Livestock Extension Officer Odelia Hilken, along with NAREI Agronomist Edmund Innis and Crop Extension Officer Romaul Ramkisson.
