25 Cadets graduate from standard officers’ course

Thirty-five ranks graduated from an Equitation Training Programme which was coordinated by the Deputy of the Guyana Police Force Mounted Branch, Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Rockwell Delph.
The training, which was ongoing for a period of six weeks, comprised of twenty-six ranks from the GDF, one from Jamaica, three from Belize, two from Antigua, one from the Guyana Police Force and two from Guyana Prison Service.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Police Sports Club Ground, Barrack Street, Eve-Leary.

The graduating officers entertained the gathering with a thrilling display on horses

Officer-in-Charge of the Force’s Communications Branch and who is also currently performing the functions of Second-in-Command “Operations”, Assistant Commissioner Edgar Thomas in delivering the feature address told the officers that equitation is a critical element of their career and that they must continue to maintain discipline and professionalism in the execution of their duties.
Also present were Deputy Force Training Officer, Senior Superintendent Fizal Karimbaksh, Colonel Julius Skeete of the GDF as well as other senior and junior officers of the Joint Services.
Assistant Superintendent Rockwell Delph who delivered the course’s report mentioned that while it was a lot of hard work, the cadets had lots of fun throughout the programme.
The graduating officers entertained the gathering with a thrilling display of musical chairs, battle of the Mounties, late for work and buns race; all of which was done with the horses they trained with.
Commanding Officer of the Colonel Ulric Pilgrim Officer Cadet School (CUPOCS), Major Harold Fraser presented a plaque to ASP Delph as an appreciation for facilitating the training.
Delivering the vote of thanks was Cadet Officer Mohammed Khan of GDF who expressed gratitude to the Guyana Police Force and his seniors for allowing them to complete the specialised training which will certainly play a vital part in their military career.
