Police in Regional Division Three are investigating the unlawful wounding of a 23-year-old Venezuelan woman following a confrontation at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, on Saturday.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 08:30h on Saturday.
According to initial investigations, the victim, Andreina Nunez, and the suspect, a 19-year-old Venezuelan national, occupy separate flats in a two-storey building.
Police said the two women were involved in a heated argument which escalated into a physical confrontation.
The landlord reportedly intervened and later went to the Leonora Police Station to report the matter.
Upon returning to the property, he observed the suspect holding a black-handled knife while Nunez was lying in the yard with injuries.
The Police were subsequently summoned, and Nunez was taken to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where she was admitted. Her condition is listed as stable.
The suspect was arrested and remains in Police custody.
