$292M fireboat commissioned

A $292 million fireboat was on Thursday commissioned to boost the capabilities of the Guyana Fire Service (GFS).

Speaking at the small commissioning ceremony, Fire Chief Marlon Gentle reiterated the vision of the GFS. He said that the GFS has over the years received tangible support, resulting in a tremendous effort over the past seven years to rebuild the organisation.
The vessel was constructed by UK-based company Angloco Limited.
In opening remarks, Divisional Officer Gregory Wickham noted this new contribution will add tremendous firefighting capabilities by strengthening its contribution to the preservation of life.
