2nd person arrested for execution-style killing of Lusignan contractor
A second suspect has been arrested for questioning in connection with the execution-style killing of Kissoondatt Premsukh, a contractor at D’Urban Street, Georgetown, on July 16 last.
Acting Region Four Divisional Commander, Senior Superintendent Phillip Azore explained that the man was arrested after detectives followed several leads.
The Commander did not go into details of the man’s arrest, given that the investigation is ongoing, and releasing information at this time might be premature.
However, Guyana Times understands that the police had arrested one man for the murder but he was subsequently released.
In addition, about one week ago, a businessman was released from custody after he was implicated and accused of contracting the hitmen to commit the act.
Premsukh, of Lot 138 Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was at his D’Urban Street, Lodge worksite when the two armed men pulled up on a motorcycle and discharged several bullets in his direction.
It was reported that the father of three was shot multiple times – once to the head and at least twice to his upper body. Soon after the shooting, the injured Premsukh collapsed onto the ground.
He was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
One month prior to his death, an attempt was made to end his life. On Father’s Day, the contractor was injured after he was shot twice by an unknown suspect.
Investigations are ongoing.
