Three men were arrested on Monday evening after they were intercepted with a quantity of ganja at a stop and search exercise at Belmont Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Based on reports received, a team of Police ranks were conducting a stop and search exercise during which a silver Allion motor car carrying the three was stopped.
The Police requested to conduct a search on the motor car when three transparent Ziploc plastic bags and a black plastic bag containing the ganja hidden in a basket of clothing were found.
The suspects were arrested and escorted to the Mahaica Police Station where the cannabis was weighed in their presence and amounted to 45 grams.
The Police are expected to institute charges shortly.
