3 arrested with narcotics at Sherima Police checkpoint
Three men were taken into Police custody following the discovery of a quantity of narcotics at Sherima Police Checkpoint, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), on Saturday.
Based on reports received, on the day in question at about 09:00h, motor lorry GZZ 8041 stopped at the Sherima Police Checkpoint and was subjected to a search along with its three occupants.
The pills and ganja unearthed during the search
During the search on a haversack belonging to one of the men, a black purse with two Ensure milk bottles containing 18 zip lock bags of ganja were found.
In addition, 15 zip lock bags containing amphetamines were also discovered in the said Ensure bottles. When weighed, the marijuana amounted to 39 grams while the amphetamines amounted to 3 grams.
Further searches were carried out on the motor lorry and ranks found a green and black haversack containing a cup with another quantity of ganja which when weighed amounted to 58 grams.
The occupants and driver were arrested as Police continue their investigations.
