3 Bangladeshis jailed for entering Guyana illegally

Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan jailed three Bangladesh nationals who admitted that they entered Guyana illegally.
The three men, Jackel Chowdhurg, 19; Siddik Ahmed, 27, and Shakhawat Khan, 20, admitted that on January 20, at Springlands, East Berbice, Corentyne, they entered Guyana by sea and disembarked without presenting themselves to an immigration officer.
The Court heard that the men entered Guyana through Suriname and were proceeding to Brazil. However, they were intercepted by Police ranks and ranks were informed that they did not present themselves to an immigration officer upon entry to Guyana. As such, they were arrested and charged for the offence.
After completing the three-month jail term, the three will be deported to Bangladesh.
