A businessman and two other men were released on $40,000 bail each on Tuesday for littering along Wellington Street, Georgetown.
Charged were tailor Satnarine Bisnauth of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo; Jomo Singh of William Street, Kitty; and Wellington Gift of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The men were arraigned before Magistrate Annette Singh for dumping garbage in a public place. They were charged separately for littering at separate locations and pleaded not guilty.
They trio was released on $40,000 bail each and is expected to return to court on February 10.
The three men were arrested by the City Constabulary on Monday afternoon and handed over to the Guyana Police Force. According to initial Police reports, the men were caught just one day after a major clean-up exercise was executed in Georgetown led by President Dr Irfaan Ali.
Video surveillance cameras on Robb Street, Georgetown, were used to identify one of the men.
Just days before these arrests, Police announced that they were looking for the perpetrator(s) who dumped garbage along Durey Lane, Campbellville, Georgetown.
An investigation was conducted including the reviewing of CCTV cameras, aimed at identifying the person or persons responsible. (G9)
