3 chopped during brawl at family function

Three men are now nursing chop wounds about their bodies while another three were arrested following a brawl during a family function at No 74 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, on Sunday evening.
The injured men are 27-year-old Turesh Persaud, a porter; Sumesh Persaud also called “Son”, 45, and Haresh Persaud, 23, a taxi driver all of No 74 Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Based on reports received, on the day in question at about 21:45h, the victims and suspects were at a family function during which an argument broke out among them. This, however, quickly escalated into a scuffle.
According to the Police, the suspects armed themselves with a cutlass and dealt the victims several lashes about their bodies, resulting in them sustaining chop wounds. The three injured men were taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where they were treated and sent away.
The matter was reported and the suspects, aged 20, 22 and 23, were contacted, arrested and placed in custody at the Springlands Police Station. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
