3 Cubans slapped with murder charge

Three Cuban nationals have been remanded to prison after being jointly charged with the murder of a fellow Cuban national at Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Charged are Alejandro Igalza Rios, called “Papote”, 26, a barber; Juan Pablo Ferrer Perez, 29, a construction worker and Mairely Felicita Medinas Alvarez, 24, a labourer. All three are residents of Timehri, EBD. The trio was arrested on July 29 and July 30, 2026, in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Yudivian Cardenas Amador Almagro, which occurred on July 22, 2026, at Diamond, EBD.
The three appeared on Tuesday before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court, where the indictable charge of murder, contrary to Common Law, was read to them.
As the offence is indictable, the accused were not required to enter pleas. They were all remanded to prison.
The matter was adjourned to September 21.
