3 Essequibo Coast men fined $430,000 for traffic offences

Three men of the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) have been fined after appearing before the Charity and Anna Magistrates’ Courts on traffic-related offences. Trevon Jupiter, 27, a miner of Dunkel, Essequibo Coast, was charged with refusing to provide a breath specimen for a breath alcohol test.

Fined: Ian Fordyce

The offence occurred on February 6 at Charity Public Road, Essequibo Coast. The charge was laid under Section 39 (B) (5) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02. The matter was heard on Monday, at the Charity Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir. Jupiter pleaded guilty and was fined $30,000, or three-months’ imprisonment in default. Daywan Ramrattie, 39, a driver of Affiance, Essequibo Coast, was charged with driving while his breath alcohol level exceeded the prescribed limit.

The offence occurred on February 6 at Cotton Field Public Road, Essequibo Coast. The charge was laid under Section 39 (A) (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02, as amended by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 17 of 2022. His case was heard on Tuesday at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir. He pleaded guilty and was fined $200,000, or six-months’ imprisonment in default. Meanwhile, Ian Fordyce, 29, a taxi driver of Benn Street, Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast, was also charged with driving while his breath alcohol level exceeded the prescribed limit.

Fined: Daywan Ramrattie

The offence occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at La-Bella Alliance Public Road, Essequibo Coast. The charge was laid under Section 39 (A) (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02, as amended by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 17 of 2022. Fordyce appeared on Tuesday at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir. He pleaded guilty and was fined $200,000, or six-months’ imprisonment in default.
