3 in custody after robbing Corriverton businessman

A 61-year-old businessman of Line Path, Corriverton, Corentyne Berbice was on Friday robbed of $130,000 cash by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun. At the time of the robbery, the businessman was leaving his yard.
Police have stated that on the day in question, at about 06:00h, the businessman had secured his home and was leaving his yard when he was confronted by three unidentifiable males, who tackled him to the ground.
He was then assaulted, receiving multiple injuries to his head and mouth, and then dragged into his yard, after which his hands were duct-taped together.
One of the suspects, armed with a black handgun, demanded money from the victim, and threatened to shoot him if he did not comply with the demand. The suspects then took the businessman into his home, which they searched and found the cash.
After committing the robbery, the suspects made good their escape on foot, while the businessman was subsequently taken to the Skeldon Hospital to receive medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Police have said that three men were subsequently arrested and are assisting with investigations.
