3 nabbed with gun, cocaine

Three men were on Monday morning arrested on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) after they were found with an unlicensed gun, several matching rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cocaine.
According to reports, Police acting on information went to a house at Market Street Lusignan, ECD, where they conducted a search on the premises and found a 9mm pistol with 12 matching rounds of ammunition along with 180 grams of cocaine.
The three males who were occupying the house at the time were arrested and are assisting the Police in their investigations.

Only recently, acting Police Commissioner, David Ramnarine revealed that a total of 46 firearms have been seized during the period January 1 to August 20 – 23 pistols, 13 revolvers and 10 shot guns.
The highest number of seizures was recorded in A Division (Georgetown-East Bank Demerara) with 20 seizures, while F Division (Interior locations) followed with 12 firearms. After this revelation, the Police have made several seizures across the country.
Only recently, Police arrested a man at Melanie Damishana, ECD, who had in his possession an illegal gun, with several matching rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cannabis.
It was reported that Police on Saturday stopped and searched the man on Melanie Public Road and found a snub-nosed revolver with four matching rounds in its chambers. The suspect in that matter is expected to be charged today.
