3 robbed at gunpoint along Leopold Street

The Guyana Police Force is investigating an alleged robbery under arms committed on three persons at the corner of Leopold and High Streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, by seven males.
The alleged robbery occurred on Sunday at about 08:15h.
Police stated that a 50-year-old Chinese businessman of Cemetery Road, East La Penitence, was robbed of a pink iPhone and $600,000 in cash along with his driver’s license.
In addition, a 30-year-old businesswoman of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), was relieved of a gold chain while a 42-year-old bus driver of Section B Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was relieved of one Samsung cell phone.
Information revealed that the victims were at a location in the area, purchasing food items when they were confronted by two of the suspects who were armed with firearms.
The two suspects pointed the guns in the victims’ direction while demanding that they hand over their valuables. After relieving the victims of the mentioned items and cash, the suspects escaped on a motorcycle and three BMX bicycles.
Police are continuing the probe.
