Female passengers robbed by gun-toting bandits travelling in same minibus

Four female passengers of a minibus were on Sunday robbed of their valuables by two armed suspects who were also passengers of the same vehicle.
According to information received, the robbery occurred at about 12:51h within the vicinity of Leopold and Lombard Streets, Georgetown.
The victims and the two suspects were passengers in a route 31 minibus destined for Georgetown.
According to one of the victims, the two suspects joined the said minibus at Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara (WBD). One of them was reportedly sitting in the conductor’s seat assisting with the opening and closing of the door.
However, while in the vicinity of Leopold and Lombard Streets, the suspects asked to be put off. The minibus stopped and it was then that one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and pointed same at the passengers and demanded that they hand over their valuables.
As the suspects were making good their escape, one of them discharged a round in the direction of the minibus, with a bullet hitting the front left-side passenger door.
During the robbery, a 23-year-old female of Goed Intent, WBD, was robbed of $15,000 cash and one LG cell phone while a 39-year-old female of Belle West, Canal Number Two Polder was relieved of a cellular phone and $30,000 in cash. In addition, one gold chain and $30,000 cash were taken from a 20-year-old of La Grange, WBD, and a 54-year-old woman of Sisters Village, WBD, was also robbed of one Samsung cell phone and one pair of spectacles.
Following the robbery, the Police were contacted and the scene was processed by detectives of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). A 9mm spent shell was found at the scene.
