4 matches slated for this weekend

The Competitions Committee of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has announced on Thursday its fixtures this weekend’s Senior 50-over competition with four matches scheduled to be contested at venues around the County.

The Albion Cricket Club will do battle with the Young Warriors Cricket Club at the Albion Community Center, Port Mourant Cricket Club will be hosted by Blairmont Cricket Club at the Blairmont Community Center, West Berbice Cricket Association and Bush Lot will compete at Bush Lot Community Center, Tucber Park will engage Police Cricket Club at the Port Mourant Community Center and Rose Hall Estate Cricket Club will meet hosts Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club at the Area H Ground, in Rose Hall Town.
Last Sunday, A brilliant half century and bowling figures of 4-15 from national middle-order batsman, Chandrapaul Hemraj led Port Mourant to a massive victory over Police Cricket Club.
Playing at home, the host won the toss and elected to field. Their bowlers proved too much for the visiting Police team which was bowled out for 74 in 30 overs. Batting for Police, C. Lindie top scored with 20 while S. Phillips followed second with 12. All the other batsmen failed to reach double figures.
Bowling for Port Mourant, l Hemraj took 4 for 15 in 9 overs, which included 3 maidens. Omesh Mathura and Arrif Chan captured 2 wickets each while Doorasani Mahadeo took 1.
Hemraj made an aggressive 52 not out from 42 deliveries which included four fours and two sixes. He received valuable support from Loydel Lewis and Daniel Samaroo.
The competition is contested by 12 first division teams in the county. Teams are mandated to play on a round robin basis in their respective zones to qualify for the next round of competition. Two Teams from each of the two zones will qualify for the quarter final stage.
Matches are scheduled to start at 09:30 hrs and teams are urged to be punctual as penalties are attached for lateness.
